The age old question. The pros use it, but should I? Short answer is yes. I have run in the Evo SL’s for almost a month now (in a rotation) and would consider myself an average runner (40-50 miles a week) and I have to say they are amazing.

The Gist
The Adidas Adizero Evo SL is marketed to athletes “who love to push their limits” according to Adidas. While they are amazing speed shoes and can handle doing fast paces, where they exceed is their versatility. Being able to take these shoes from a hard workout to a casual long run (some have reported otherwise for long runs) is where this shoe shines. No carbon plate allows it to switch from those high speed sessions to more of a daily trainer, turning this shoe into a one for all.
Pros:
- No carbon plate
Allows for a more versatile shoe, and possibly less injury risk. Could be a con depending on what you’re looking for.
- Comfortable
Despite the tongue, it is a very comfortable shoe for all paces.
- Quick
When running with this shoe in workouts, I can feel the speed I get with this shoe.
- One shoe fits all
While not the best recovery shoe, this hits almost every other category as being at least decent. In workouts, its main function, it performs very well, but also all the way down to daily runs it still performs well and stays comfortable. As mentioned above, some say that it is not good for long runs, but I have not had any problems.
Cons:
- No carbon plate
As mentioned above, this could either be a pro or a con depending on what you are looking for.
- Tongue
The tongue on this shoe has to be one of the worst I have experienced. While lightweight, that means that it is not padded at all, just a piece of fabric. Also, even after a short time of running, it will start to slip back into the shoe sometimes causing discomfort. However, this is not something that should discourage you from buying the shoe, it should just be something you’re aware of.
Overall, these are great shoes, whether for daily runs, workouts, or long runs. Don’t be afraid to splurge especially when these are on sale!
